You know the macro times from the basics. This lesson is what actually happens inside the AM macro, 09:45 to 10:15 New York time, because the same thing happens almost every day, in the same order. Once you can see the order, you know where you are in it and what comes next.
1. Manipulation. Price runs a pool of liquidity: a session high or low, equal highs or lows, a key open. This is the sweep from Bundle 01. It usually happens just before or just inside the window, and it usually looks like price going the wrong way.
2. Displacement. Right after the sweep, price turns and moves strongly the other way, leaving a fair value gap and an order block behind it. This is the move that tells you the real direction of the day.
3. Delivery. Price pulls back into the zone the displacement created, the order block or the gap, and then travels toward the liquidity on the opposite side. This pullback is where you enter.
Notice what that means for you. You do nothing at 09:30. You do nothing during the manipulation, because it is designed to make you trade the wrong way. You wait for the displacement, which shows you the direction, and then you wait again for the pullback into the zone. Your entry is step three, never step one.
The first fifteen minutes after the open are where the overnight orders get filled and the early stops get run. Direction is not decided yet. By 09:45 the manipulation has usually happened or is happening, and the window from there to 10:15 is where the displacement and the delivery play out. Most days the macro gives 30 to 50 points of movement, even slow ones.
Most days the macro is a reversal: the sweep goes one way, the day goes the other. Some days it is a continuation: the sweep is small, price respects the zone it already has, and carries on in yesterday's direction. Which one it is, you decided in the continuation vs reversal lesson: a weak close at the level means reversal, a strong close means continuation.
- Manipulation: a sweep, usually looking like the wrong direction.
- Displacement: the strong move the other way, leaving a gap and an order block.
- Delivery: the pullback into that zone, then the move to the opposite liquidity.
- You enter at step three. Never at step one.
- 09:30 is noise. 09:45 to 10:15 is the window.
